Formed in 2008, Trio di Buson features cellist Chungsun Kim, clarinetist Maryanne Lacaille, and pianist John Alan Rose.
About the members of Trio di Buson
Chungsun Kim received her BM, MM, and DMA from the Juilliard School and studied with the cellists Leonard Rose and Harvey Shapiro. She is a founding member of the Amasi Piano Trio, the resident trio at Nyack College since 1993. She has been an adjunct faculty at Nyack College since 1994. In 2000, she was invited as a soloist and faculty at the New International Music Festival in Seoul, Korea. This subsequently led to her duo recital in Japan under the sponsorship of Araki Industry Corp. She was a former member and a soloist with the Pro-Arte Chamber Orchestra, NY Virtuosi, and the Philharmonia Virtuosi. In 2010, she became one of the members of the Trio di Buson under the management of Prestige Classical Productions. Ms. Kim has been a featured artist in Beethoven Music Festival, Laurentian Summer Music Festival, Arcady Music Festival, Summit Music Festival, and Bach Festival (Winter Park, FL). She toured as soloist with the Philharmonia Lawrencia through New England area, which included a radio broadcast. She appeared as a guest artist with the Little Orchestra Society at the Lincoln Center in part of the "Vivaldi’s Venice." She also won the Artist International Debut Presentation Competition, and this led to her recital debut at the Carnegie Recital Hall. Ms. Kim was also a recipient of the Hanna Rubens Scholarship while studying at Juilliard, and received the Robert Edgerton Memorial Cello Scholarship from Aspen Music Festival. As a dedicated teacher, she has taught at the Sarah Lawrence Music Festival and frequently teaches master classes at the Ithaca College. She toured as a chamber musician and orchestra member through Singapore, Germany (under the direction of Leonard Bernstein,), Chili and US.
Clarinetist Maryanne Lacaille plays Eb/Bb/A/C/Basset Clarinet/Basset Horn and Bass Clarinets. She has garnered world acclaim as a performer and educator throughout USA, Europe and Asia. She performs with the NW Mahler Orchestra and Seattle Philharmonic Orchestras serving as principal. All her clarinets have been customized for her personally by a company in Copenhagen through Lohff & Pfeiffer. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Boston and New England Conservatory.

Our cd is released with Guild Records. This recording features the large-scale Piano Trio in B-flat major by Vincent, d'Indy, my "Buson's Ballet," a composition in nine short movements, each one inspired by a haiku poem by the poet Yosa Buson (1716 - 1783), and a rare masterpiece by Felix Mendelssohn.
